Work time and logbook course

The Work Time and Logbook Course (New Zealand) is designed to help commercial drivers understand and comply with NZTA work time and fatigue management regulations. This course covers legal work and rest requirements, accurate logbook completion, and practical guidance to ensure drivers meet New Zealand transport compliance standards.

Participants will learn how to correctly record driving hours, manage fatigue, and avoid infringements while operating commercial vehicles safely and legally across New Zealand.

The purpose of this course is to equip candidates with the skills and knowledge to competently demonstrate knowledge of fatigue management, worktime and driver logbook requirements

There are no pre-entry requirements to complete Unit Standard 24089 (Demonstrate knowledge of fatigue management, worktime and logbook requirements).

4-6 Hours approx.

Theory Learning
  • Identify causes and symptoms of fatigue, and the effects of fatigue on driving performance
  • Describe life management skills and work-related measures that can be implemented to prevent fatigue
  • Identify the worktime requirements and penalties prescribed by law
  • Identify driver logbook requirements and associated penalties prescribed by law
  • Describe the management of worktime records contained in driver logbooks, and identify associated penalties prescribed by law.
  • Complete driver logbook entries.

There are no practical learning outcomes for this course  

In-Classroom Theory Course &  Closed Book Assessment

Unit Standard 24089 (Level 3, Credits 5) - Demonstrate knowledge of fatigue management, worktime and logbook requirements

$390 + GST 

Upon successful completion of the course, the prescribed credits will be loaded to each successful candidates NZQA Record of Learning  within 90 days of the assessment date.
